Briar Vivian

Briar Vivian is an Auckland-based fashion designer and creative force behind Juan Bullion, a unique design project and registered fashion design service she launched in 2016 in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Drawing on years of experience in the film and TV industry – where long, sun-drenched shoot days and hands-on fabric sourcing shaped her perspective – Vivian invented Juan Bullion as both a practical solution and creative outlet.

At its core, Juan Bullion reimagines functional clothing for outdoor life. What began as a sarong worn under a cap evolved into a signature one-piece accessory crafted from breathable, natural fibres, designed to offer adaptable shade and comfort in varied environments – from festivals and beaches to everyday urban life. The pieces are distinguished by their versatility, refined form, and ability to spark connection – inviting wearers, photographers, makers, and artists to co-create expression and imagery from a shared design base.

Briar’s work reflects an orientation toward comfort, adaptability, and social engagement, marrying functionality with refined design sensibility. Through Juan Bullion, she continues to push boundaries in fashion while nurturing creative communities and redefining how practical garments can be both expressive and socially connective.
