Henry Caird is the founder of Oddthing, an Auckland-based industrial design brand dedicated to creating distinctive, enduring objects. From lighting and homewares to storage solutions and bespoke commissions, Oddthing’s designs are thoughtful, functional, and built to last—each piece locally made with a focus on longevity.
Caird’s practice is shaped by an exploration of local manufacturing techniques and an ongoing investigation of three-dimensional form. His design philosophy centres on simplification while introducing subtle character details that enhance user experience and extend product lifespan.
He holds a Bachelor of Design (First Class Honours) in Industrial Design and has been recognised with a Red Dot Concept Design Award, an Australian Good Design Award, and multiple New Zealand Best Design Awards.
