Saul Parkinson designs and makes furniture from his West Auckland workshop. A graduate of the Furniture Maker's Programme at the Centre for Fine Woodworking in Nelson, he takes custom commissions and is building his own line of made-to-order pieces. He constructs furniture with traditional joinery techniques and has a focus on using hand tools where possible and appropriate.
With his designs he strives for understated elegance, eliminating the superfluous, and highlighting the natural beauty of timber as the raw material. Saul loves working closely with clients who bring a unique brief, those who appreciate the connection with the maker and the knowledge of their hand involved at every stage from design to completion.
