Studio Liinea, directed by designer Silvia Kostandini is an emerging spatial practice in Aotearoa, New Zealand, that develops limited-edition collectible pieces and spatial compositions that blur the line between function and art.
Through considered production, material poetics, and spatial sensitivity, Silvia designs objects that prioritise connection, narrative and innovation. The exhibited collection Isola, in Italian 'Island' draws from the heritage of the designer and the landscape of Aotearoa, shaped by volcanic grounds, black sand beaches, and tectonic formations. Monolithic forms are reinterpreted through contemporary geometry, creating a sense of presence rooted in everyday rituals.
Each piece uses locality as a conceptual framework, grounding the design in context through form and material memory. Objects such as Vaso, Vassoio, and Luce support rituals of holding, containing, and illuminating, quietly reshaping atmosphere through sculptural presence and encouraging slower interaction within domestic spaces. All pieces are handmade locally.
